Description

The Savoyard Escape comes in two versions depending on the season and your wishes. The evening version — the most iconic — begins at nightfall with a moonlit snowshoe ascent, guided by our qualified instructors. On arrival, a carefully selected altitude site welcomes you for dinner. The sledge or parêt descent closes the evening in a festive and unforgettable atmosphere. For groups wishing to experience it during the day, the snowshoe ascent and descent formula is available, offering the same exceptional Aravis panoramas. Several sites are offered depending on your location, your preferred meal setting and chosen descent — other venues can be considered on request.

Good to know

Dinner is to be booked directly by you with the venue of your choice — Takamaka can advise on partner venues depending on your arrival site. Warm, waterproof clothing and snow-appropriate footwear are essential. The evening version takes place after dark — bring extra thermal layers. In the event of unfavourable weather conditions, Takamaka adapts the programme and notifies you as promptly as possible.

How the activity works

1

Equipment & Briefing

Meet our qualified guides at the starting point. Snowshoes, poles and head torches distributed. Technical briefing in a few minutes — snowshoe progression technique, safety instructions and presentation of the route to the altitude site. The adventure begins.
2

The Snowshoe Ascent

In the evening version, the moonlit snowshoe ascent is a moment apart — silhouettes in the night, village lights below and the starlit Aravis sky above. Our guides share their knowledge of the territory and set the atmosphere throughout the ascent.
3

Dinner at Altitude

Arrival at the altitude site — the exceptional Savoyard setting chosen by Takamaka welcomes you for dinner. Warmth, conviviality and Savoyard specialities after the effort — the most delicious moment of the evening, both literally and figuratively.
4

The Sledge Descent

The perfect finale — sledge descent from the altitude site back to the village. Speed, laughter and adrenaline after dinner, in the magical nocturnal Aravis setting. An unforgettable finale to an extraordinary evening.

FAQ

Is the activity available during the day ?

Yes. The daytime formula offers the snowshoe ascent and descent, without the nocturnal dimension. Ideal for groups who want to enjoy the winter Aravis landscapes without waiting for nightfall.

Is the altitude site always the same ?

Not at all — Takamaka selects the site based on your group, menu, location and current conditions. Several exceptional sites are available in the Aravis massif to guarantee the best possible experience.

Are snowshoes provided ?

Yes — snowshoes, poles and head torches for the nocturnal version are provided by Takamaka. Simply bring warm clothing and waterproof footwear.

Is the activity supervised ?

Yes. Takamaka’s state-qualified guides supervise the entire route — snowshoe ascent and sledge descent. Safety and good spirits guaranteed throughout.

What are the usual sites on offer ?

Four main sites are offered — Beauregard from the Col de la Croix Fry with dinner at Le 1647, La Clusaz to the Chalet des Praz with a parêt descent, La Clusaz from the Col des Aravis to Les Rhodos, and the Semnoz with dinner at Les Rochers Blancs. Other venues can be considered on request based on your preferences and location.
