Description

Once you’re kitted out with wetsuits, helmets and harnesses, our Takamaka guides join you on the path down to the canyon — a shaded track with views over Lake Annecy. A briefing is delivered before the descent — and then it’s time for an initiation into abseiling through the waterfalls, between natural water slides and jumps, freshness and sensations guaranteed. With a bit of luck, you might even spot trout and salamanders in the riverbed! Our guides adapt to every group’s technical level to make this canyon an unforgettable experience. For those who prefer not to take part in the canyon itself, a walking hike can be organised alongside.

Good to know

Bring a swimsuit and a towel. Closed-toe shoes that can get wet are recommended. The activity is not advised for anyone with heart conditions or medical contraindications to water-based activities. In the event of flooding or unfavourable weather conditions, Takamaka reserves the right to adapt or cancel the descent for safety reasons.

How the activity works

1

Equipment & Briefing

On arrival, participants are kitted out with wetsuits, helmets and harnesses. Our state-certified instructors then deliver the technical briefing — abseiling techniques, safety rules, canyon guidelines. Everyone is ready within minutes.
2

The Approach Path

Head to the canyon entrance along a shaded path — an approach walk that already offers beautiful views over Lake Annecy and the Aravis summits. The atmosphere and anticipation build naturally with every step.
3

The Descent: Slides, Abseils & Jumps

Here we go! Natural water slides, abseils through the waterfalls and jumps — our guides adapt to every participant’s level and facilitate the descent with care and good humour. Freshness, adrenaline and wonder in the heart of the Aravis gorges. You might even spot a few trout and salamanders in the riverbed!
4

The Return & Debrief

Exit the canyon, remove the equipment and share a collective debrief. A convivial moment to relive the best sequences of the descent — and already want to do it all over again!
