Description

The Soap Box Race unfolds in two phases: a construction and customisation phase where every team brings their soap box to life using the provided materials, then the circuit race where drivers and strategists compete to claim victory. In between — a parade of the vehicles to elect the most original design! The activity combines creativity, team spirit, attention to detail and competitiveness — in a natural Aravis setting that adds a unique dimension to the race. Whether your team bets on speed, aesthetics or both, the Soap Box always delivers surprises.

Good to know

Comfortable clothing that can get dirty is recommended for the construction phase. Takamaka provides all the necessary material — no personal tools are required. The activity takes place outdoors in the Aravis — bring sun protection in summer and warm layers in the shoulder seasons. A Takamaka jury awards prizes in several categories — best cart, best driver, most creative team.

How the activity works

1

Briefing & Material Distribution

Teams form, the rules are announced and materials distributed. The construction timer starts — every team has the same time and the same resources to design their soap box. Strategy kicks in from the very first seconds: speed or aesthetics?
2

Construction & Customisation

Every team gets to work building their soap box — assembly, paint, accessories, finishing touches. Ingenuity and creativity take centre stage. The strategic ones optimise aerodynamics, the artistic ones turn their racer into a work of art. Both approaches can win !
3

The Parade & Best Design Vote

Before the race, every team presents their soap box to the jury and the other teams. Originality, technique, attention to detail — the Takamaka jury deliberates and awards the prize for the most creative vehicle. A festive and hilarious moment before the big start.
4

The Race & Prize-Giving

The big moment! Drivers take their places, the signal is given and the soap boxes head off around the Aravis circuit. Overtaking, racing incidents and acceleration — the competition is total right to the finish line. Prize-giving across all categories and a collective celebration of every team.

Why choose Takamaka ?

Takamaka was born from a desire to develop outdoor experiences rooted in the territories themselves.

Over the years, the network has grown around several destinations while preserving a local and human-centered approach. The goal has never been to standardize formats, but to adapt each project to the specific characteristics of the location and the expectations of participants.
